My Teaching Ethos

Rosie and her student stand opposite each other, playing their violins.

Learning a musical instrument has so many benefits, but if you love music then one of the most important reasons is pure enjoyment! Learning an instrument should be fun, and music can become a lifelong hobby that can offer ongoing new experiences and challenges. Learning an instrument can also broaden your mental and manual dexterity and enhance functions like memory and abstract reasoning skills. Additionally, music provides a creative and emotional outlet, and music performance can improve confidence and self-esteem.

I work with each of my students to ensure our lessons meet their goals – whether you wish to learn so you can enjoy playing your favourite song from the radio all by yourself; or if you want to enhance your CV by taking grades and giving performances.

My teaching ethos centres around establishing a positive and encouraging atmosphere; adapting to each individual’s needs; and finding innovative and creative ways to help pupils overcome challenges; while of course having lots of fun!

Consistency is essential to learning a new skill, so lessons are on a weekly basis, following the Warwickshire term dates.

Communication and collaboration are also vital, so I provide each pupil with a practice diary for referring to at home. After your first couple of lessons  I will also recommend instruments and sheet music to purchase so that you can practice at home.

Rosie is sat on a piano stool, facing away from the piano, holding a violin in her lap.
About Rosie

Music Lessons By Rosie For All Ages & Levels

I am a mum of two and have lived in Rugby for the past 14 years. As well as private instrumental teaching, I have been a class teacher in primary schools, as well as leading baby and toddler music classes: so I am very experienced at teaching children but enjoy teaching adult pupils as well. I have performed with several large-scale and chamber groups on voice, violin and viola, including the National Youth Choir and Birmingham Opera Company, as well as solo; and I currently enjoy singing with the Rugby Philharmonic Choir, and playing with the Rugby Rococo Players. I also enjoy gardening, reading, squash and spending time with my family.
